Access Control System

     What is an access control system

 Access Control Systems (ACS) are electronic systems that are controlled through the network and in turn have access to the network. The access control system recognizes a person's credentials and allows them entrance to a facility, thus ensuring its protection.

     An access control system (ACS) ensures security by providing easy access to authorized individuals.

     ACS is one of the most common used system in electronic door control using a card, chip or biometric data to restrict access to authorized persons.

    The organizations or areas that demand high security use different types of access control systems such as biometric, RFID and card readers. Each entry may be controlled individually by policy of company where high security is required. Network security is also important, especially in companies that work with confidential data.

     Access control and management system - a complex of hardware and software technical means of control and management tools designed for restriction and registration of entry and exit of objects (people, vehicles) to a specific facility through “access points”: doors, gates, checkpoints.

           The main goal:

      To control access to a specific facility (who is allowed to enter or exit, where and when they are allowed to exit or enter), including:

• restriction of access to the facility

• record of transaction or attempt of access by an unauthorized person.

           Additional goals:

• time tracking;

• payroll calculation (when integrated with accounting systems);

• maintaining a database of staff / visitors;

• integration with other types of security systems,

   for example:

      a) with a video surveillance system for merging archives of system events, sending commands to the video surveillance system to              start recording of a suspicious event;

      b) with a security alarm system, for example, to restrict access to protected facilities.

      c) with a fire alarm system to automatically unlock emergency exits and open fire doors in the event of a fire alarm, based on a                    signal from fire detectors.

     At critical facilities, the network of ACS devices is physically separated from a company's information networks.
