IP Phone system

IP-phone, VoIP-phone - a telecommunication device that enables voice communication between remote subscribers, using the IP network as a medium for voice transmission to connect to the proxy server of the IP-telephony provider or IP-PBX, VoIP-server. A VoIP phone can be a purpose-built hardware device, a soft-phone, or a regular telephone fitted with an adapter. When an outbound call is made, the proxy server finds other such servers on the network corresponding to the dialed number. If the call is addressed to a PSTN subscriber, the request is forwarded to the proxy server integrated with the gateway of the telephone network where the desired subscriber is located.

The arrival of IP phones was the result of the appearance and development of VoIP technology, which enables transmitting voice messages over IP network.

VoIP phones can be classified into three different types based on their use:

1. Residential VoIP: uses the user's internet connection to make and receive calls. A personal computer is not required to make use of this technology.

2. Business VoIP: similar to a residential VoIP plan but with some advanced features such as private branch exchange and conference calling.

3. Small Business VoIP: offers a great service along with many advantages geared specifically toward the needs of a small enterprise business.

At the moment IP telephony and IP telephones are slowly but steadily replacing traditional telephony (PSTN), such substitution mostly occurs in the corporate sector, to a lesser extent - in the consumer market.
